Just an excuse for picspam.

As I said yesterday snow came to North Carolina at the end of January and caused havoc.  And it was quite a lot of snow - about 20cm.  It lasted for about a week as it was pretty cold. Still days were above 0 which made the situation worse as on roads and in sunny places it melted and then turned into ice.

At first I enjoyed it and took pictures:

Looks like a real winter, doesn't it?

Then the weekend ended and it turned annoying as it turned out that not knowing how to deal with winter means that the sidewalks are often not cleared and the windows and doors are very draughty.

It melted after about a week but then it snowed again.

This only lasted one day but was pretty nonetheless.

Twice within a month people here will remember this winter for a long time. Of course I look at it from a little bit different perspective as my family sent me pictures from Poland where it snowed again and again and after a month of that it looked like this:

My cousin and uncle who live in the country spent a lot of time clearing roofs so they won't break.

El Niño gets blamed for the snow abundance this year both here and in Europe (and also for extra warm Olympics). In other words this proves global warming not disproves it.

Fortunately both here and there was hit with spring weather last week. As I mentioned I had +20 yesterday and in Poland it rained so hard it washed away much of the snow leaving just litter and dog poo. That's one of those things I don't miss at all. I like a lot that here people clean after their dogs.
