Being Human
Feb. 4th, 2009 11:33 pmI just watched first two episodes of Being Human - a new BBC series about a ghost, a vampire and a werewolf living together. It is much better then I expected. The summary makes it like a bad joke but it's in fact very serious and dark.
I liked how real the characters seem. How broken they are. How everyday normality is mixing with all the weird they carry with them all the time. I like how they try to be normal and how they fail and succeed. I like there's no easy answers, no diluting of the nature of who they are, no easy ways to avoid their nature. They try to get by day by day. And have to suffer consequences of their actions.
There's gore and nudity but that's about all it has in common with True Blood. And I must say I enjoyed the fact that it was male nudity. There are guys running around naked all the time. Even in the sex scene the girl was invisible.
This is probably best supernatural series I've seen since Ultraviolet. Hope it succeeds.
