Choices

I need to find myself a post-doc position. I'd prefer Europe but I'm not one of those people who pick the place first and then look what's available there (not that is a wrong way - one needs to know ones priorities). I'm looking for something in the vain of what I've already done so I can continue working in my field but something different so I can learn something new.

My friend just came back from a conference with few interesting proposals. The one I like the most, that is almost perfect for me comes with one serious disadvantage - it's in Texas. South of Texas. Temperatures there are over 30o for half a year + high humidity makes it a nightmare for me. In such conditions I can't sleep, eat or think. I know every place has air condition but can I spent half a year indoors? Or maybe I would get used to it? But I suffer even during Polish summers what will happen when it gets 40o in the shade?

The other interesting position is in Canada. It is not as well fitted to my interests but there are seasons. Although I may not be prepared for Canadian winters - we never get neither that kind of cold nor as much snow in Poland. Still, for me, cold is much more acceptable then heat and at least the winter days are longer in there then in Warsaw.

Ultimately it seems the choice was done by weather not scientific conditions :P
