End is a beginning
Aug. 30th, 2009 09:09 pmToday is the last day of wotmania (I'm not linking - there's no point anymore sadly). I wrote goodbye when I learned about closing in January although it still seemed so far away then. This 7 months really flew by and this is it.
But as the prologue to Wheel of Time reminds as all in every new book - the end is also a beginning and thanks to wonderful wotmaniacs who didn't want to lose the community we can all meet again in new place. In this few month since Mike announce closing of wotmania the transition comity was formed and the decision to make new site was made. After months of coding and testing they made it on time.
Today the ReadAndFindOut.com has been made available to the public.
I like it - it is just like wotmania so all the old habits can stay and one feel comfortable right away. It also has a lot of new, shiny features that make life easier then it was on the old site. It's less focused on Wheel of Time (although that still has it's own board) and more on general SF&F discussion (which is what I was on wotmania for in the first place). It still not perfect but for such a short time (being done in for free in free time) it's amazing.
Thank you Nebhead and co.
