Who did your ancestors have sex with?
May. 7th, 2010 11:25 pmGetting more popular with age. Laser turns 50 and NewScientist shows just how ubiquitous it has become in our lives. Much more then any sf has ever imagined.
It has been speculated for years and now it has been shown to be true. The sequencing of neanderthal genome allowed to compare it modern humans. And it turns out our ancestors did have babies with neanderthals. Or at least the ancestors of those of us who lest Africa before 45 000 years ago. With neanderthals being the epitome of backwardness for so long I can't stop wondering how the the pure race believers reacted to the fact that only Sub-Saharan Africans didn't crossbreed.
The warmth of the universe is revealed to us by the infrared telescope, Herschel Space Observatory, first observations. The ESA just released first photos and it shows a new face of one of the most famous space objects The Horsehead Nebula. It not as dark as it seemed in visible light.
Quasars show that at the begging there were cosmic strings. When the weak nuclear and electromagnetic forces separated the left cosmic string in their wake. But even though those quickly dissipated they left strong magnetic fields that caused polarisation of proto-galaxies and aligned their axes. Doesn't that sound like the best origin story ever?
