ellestra: (winged)
I tripped and fell today. On my way to the clinic of all places. I was going there for a third visit in one week. It's a long story and I suppose I should start from the beginning.

About four weeks ago I kicked a futon leg. Involuntarily. Walking barefoot has its hazards and hitting furniture is one of them as it usually wins the kicking war. This time I ended up with a broken little toe. The thing is there is nothing that can be done about it. There are no slings, no casts. Neither here nor in Poland they will do anything but say to avoid walking to much. You are motivated to just that by pain. It didn't help that it was cold and none of my shoes could house my swollen, no longer little toe. I walked in slippers. Ones that have rubber sole and cover the whole foot but still. And the funny thing is that although a broken bone doesn't hurt as much as some other contusions such as for example twisted ankle it hurts for a while longer. Broken bones (at least when it's not open break as I have no experience in those) hurts badly at the moment when it happens but then pain mostly goes away unless you really bother the place - I walked on fractured leg and it hurt less the walking with twisted ankle. I was told 4 to 6 weeks before it's OK. It's much better now but it still hurts sometimes when I move it in a bad way.

It might've healed faster if walked less but I had a student to train lately and somehow it meant I eneded up on my feet a lot. And then Spring started and I realised I'm out of the long lasting muscle relaxing medicine. Well actully the one I brought from Poland expired so I neede a new one. This meant I had to go to see a doctor to get a new one as well as more steroids and an emergency inhaler. I got samples of the combined steroid and beta2-antagonist inhaler as you can't have the last one separately here and got an appointment for today to get more if it worked fine for me. However everyone was in such a hurry as it was late and I was last one there that I was not given an emergency inhaler but something I had no use for at all - a box of nebulizer refills. I was given a paper bag with something inside and asked if I knew how to use it and as I thought it was inhaler I said yes and went home. Then it turned out I didn't and had no way of learning as I don't have the machine. So I had to go back the next day return what they gave me and get what I wanted and sit through the presentation of how to use an inhaler as a punishment.

So today my sample run out and I had to go and and get a real one. And I tripped just as I left my building. And it was bad because I actually tripped twice. I was almost catching balance from the first one when a concrete bar happen to be where I tried to put my foot and I tripped again. This led to uncontrolled fall. My hands are scrapped but that's nothing compared to my knees. Side of my face will probably turn purple by tomorrow even with all the time I put ice on it in the clinic. And I my trousers have been ruined. However even though I was walking all the way through the campus to the clinic and back and then home no one even look at me twice. I suppose this means I could keep them and pretend all the tears are there on purpose.

So one again I'm lame and hurting. This time however I'll probably looking like a victim of abuse for extra fun. I just tripped and fell. I swear.
