Of how many of these you've heard before?
Sep. 5th, 2011 11:08 pmI think I mentioned previous round way back but now it is time for the final vote. Here are 28 candidates for New 7 Wonders of Nature and you can vote which 7 are going to be it. Right now I'm all happy for Masurian Lake District making it to the finals. I didn't expect it. It's not that it's not beautiful, it's that almost nobody outside Poland has heard about it. And I suspect that it being on the list shows how many Poles voted in previous poll but that just makes me happy that there were so many people who cared enough to vote in an internet poll for their country. Someday they may even go and vote in elections.
This selective voting probably explains why there are 5 finalists from Europe but only 2 from Africa or North America. For the former it's probably lack of internet access, for the latter no campaign so no one has heard about it. There wasn't even all that many candidates from these two continents and lots of them from Europe. However when you think about the number of the nature documentaries for the continents it would be the opposite. Not even governments thought it would be a good promotion for their countries apparently. Southeast Asia and Arabian Penisula seem, however, to be full of people aware of the poll as the mesmerizing home page display shows. It shows live from which country the person who just voted was and what they chose (someone form Botswana just voted for Masuria!).
Anyway you have till 11/11/11 to decide (isn't it na nice date - same in all notations).
