Time in Stories
Oct. 23rd, 2011 11:54 pmI was pretty underwhelmed by the new series this fall so far. I only really like one so far and it's not even slightly genre. I watch Revenge with pleasure as I love the scheming and backstabbing that Emily and Victoria engage in but I was hoping for something more SFF to get into.
I had high hopes for Terra Nova but it is not really it despite the fact that I generally like it. It just seem so bland. There is a lot of action but it is as if nothing really happens. I need a story to follow. I need more then just procedural with dinosaurs and time travel. I can't really put my finger on it (this is why I haven't really wrote about it) but there is something missing. It is nice but I can't say I care about it. It doesn't make me think about the episode after it ends. It doesn't make me wonder what will happen in the next one. I don't get excited by the though I will see it. I just watch it because there is nothing more interesting. If it was on Fridays it wouldn't be watching it (I go Nikita, Fringe, Sanctuary) It doesn't make me care about characters enough to make me remember their names. And it feels so weird knowing that none, except I think the Avatar guy, are American but they still pretend to be. Or most of them do and it must feel weird. It also makes me want to see them forget themselves. I keep watching because I want to like it. I want to love it and obsess about it.
Today, I think I found it. I just saw the pilot episode for the Once Upon a Time and I really liked it. I didn't watch it on the internet even though I knew about it. I figured I didn't have anything else to do today and It's easier for me to work on my computer when what I watch is on TV. I wanted to pay attention. I liked the descriptions and previews and I hoped I will like the episode too and I'm so happy I did. If the story will continue like this I will love it.

I think this is the first new show I'm going to have thoughts about. I know it's already the one I can't wait for the next episode and have seen this one twice so it is a good sign. I hope it will stay this way and that other people will like it too.
I just wish Jennifer Morrison would go back to dark hair because she looks so much like Ginnifer with darker hair.
