It already happened
Jun. 10th, 2013 11:42 pmI spend whole day yesterday finishing up the result graphs and tables for the meeting this morning. I only took breaks for coughing fits. When I finally finished and it turned out that my results finally make sense it was already today. To unwind before the sleep I did some web crawling. And then I saw the news...
Author Iain Banks has died yesterday. This came only two months after he announced he had terminal cancer so we all knew it was going to happen but it still made me so sad and angry. He wanted to see his last book on shelves but, even with sped up publishing date, it's still 2 weeks away (20 June in UK, 23 in US). I was hoping for more of the "no more then a year" then this.
I already wrote my thoughts when he made his announcement and I certainly cannot do better then The Guardian obituary and Neil Gaiman's post so I just say I wish he'd be here for twice as much:

From twitter responses to the news.
Goodbye Sun-Earther Iain El-Bonko Banks of North Queensferry.
