It just started raining again
Aug. 12th, 2013 11:22 pmI'm tired and sleepy and thinking is kind of hard today and I blame the weather change. After couple of hot days storms are coming and then cold. This summer is so unusually cool that the there were higher temperatures in Poland this year then here. Beginning of last week was cool. It reminded me of the weather we often had in August in Poland, especially second part (even the smell reminds me of Polish summers and makes both homesick and feeling like I'm on vacation - the weird side effect of leaving in small town and close to a pool). If you stand in the sun it was very warm, even hot but the shadows felt cool and so did mornings and evenings. Somehow this year had cold spring and summer that is only hot and not scorching (mostly below 30 and sometimes just above and nights has been even cool enough to leave the window open). It's also mostly not that humid so you can walk outside without feeling all sticky instantly. Only my balcony still has no draft and always feels warmer then anywhere else so plant still overheat and die.
Last few days got hot but it was still just 33 degrees at the hottest and that would be on the low end of normal on any other summer. In this one it seemed oppressively hot and that was with air condition. I felt so bad for everyone in Poland where the temperature reached 37oC on Thursday. I think the highest we had this year here was 35 and there was no traditional one week of 40 and above. Luckily for my father, stuck in a two hour traffic jam because of the idiot who crashed trying to pass on the technical lane of the highway, it cooled down on Friday pretty rapidly and then started to rain. Which is what's about to happen here too. The temperature is about to drop to low 20s this week (during the day!) and it's supposed to rain or at least be cloudy till next Monday. It's so unusual but I enjoy this so much. Instead of being imprisoned inside by heat during the day and 90% humidity at night I'm enjoying walking around, and sitting outside and meeting with friends.
I have friends who like heat and complain about the cold summer and how they didn't have the time to to really soak up the heat. But for me all the summers here could be like this.
