The art of our nightmares

H. R. Giger has died on Monday at age 74. He is most known for the designs for the Alien films but I saw his paintings first as covers for the Polish sf magazine "Fantastyka". His style was so unique and easily recognisable that by the time I saw Alien I was able to recognise it. I remember thinking these aliens look just like Giger's work which is the exact opposite how most people react. Of course a lot of his work includes creatures very similar to the aliens.
