So the new shows are starting and so far it's not good. (All the spoilers are very generic but I just wanted to be safe.)

I had hopes for Gotham but pilot felt awfully stilled. It's like they couldn't decide whether they want to be more like comics or more like movies so the visuals have the still-like quality - like they tried freezing a a scene into a comic book panel. A little of Sin City-lite feeling. And it's dark and grim and rainy and every one talks about how corrupt corruption in Gotham is just like the movies. But somehow, in the end, it just all feels stiff and unnatural. The stylisation of the cops and precinct on the 40s noir doesn't help either. Even worse is everyone acting like they are presenting their roles in the play not being those characters. In "I am Jim Gordon and I'm good and do what is right no matter how stupid that is" kind of way. I hope they will grow those characters into something more human-like soon. I also hope next episode will be less concentrated on look, it's Riddler/Penguin/Poison Ivy etc. and have more real story. AoS was accused of not having enough recognisable characters in it's first season but this had way too many in one episode.

Forever made sure that we find the leads as irritating as possible. He is obnoxious know it all and shoves it into everyone's face. Apparently, he learned everything in 200 years except human interaction. She is no nonsense detective who begrudgingly learns she can use his help. There is even dead husband for added depth. I liked it better when it was called New Amsterdam - the detective work, white guy cursed with immortality for helping non-white people, old guy who knows about the secret because he was raised by the immortal, even drinking problem - are all still there but just less fun. And Nikolaj Coster-Waldau and Zuleikha Robinson had way better chemistry. Although the slave ship curse is almost as ridiculous as the Indian curse.

I wanted to like . I hoped it could be somewhat like Leverage - maybe not as fun but at least somewhat similar - but it turned out to one long string of ridiculousness. I don't even have strength to list all the things that were wrong in this episode (just go here if you want to know). The premise didn't have any sense and the resolution was even worse (the ethernet cable part is where your brain just call quits - I had more realistic dreams than that). For something calling itself "based on true story" it's like they never were even close to reality (not to mention an expert advisor). It's too bad because Elyes Gabel is cute.

Luckily, Agents of SHIELD and Person of Interest are back and all is good.
