I didn't even pay attention to Paul's confession (I suspected something like that) but it didn't seem particularly weird - with modern weapons killing six people doesn't take much effort and most of the friendly fire happens from afar so I just figured he covered place with fire and then when he came to check there were the dead marines. Ooops. And it's also obvious he isn't a very nice person - Vic and nail gun, drugged (poisoned) alcohol - he can do bad things to get what he wants.
I loved the finale - from changing allegiances to the final reveal.
Well, the second episode also has Frankenstein so resurrection is not out of question.
