So it is summer. School is out. People go for vacation. It is cold and raining outside. I mean 15C and drizzle. In other words a real autumn weather. And it's to stay this way for at least a week. I knew it's going to end up like this. The number of sunny days in a year is constant. We used all the pretty weather in April and May. At the same time plants still go by the momentum and blackberries are here already.

I'm busy preparing poster for conference. I hope that there will be better weather in Prague. It's less then two weeks left. So shortly:

And official reports of Gemmell Award are out.

SFX has pictures from the ceremony
. Sapkowski couldn't attend so his publisher got the axe (the Award is in a form of Snaga - a battle axe that featured in Gemmell's fiction).

Gemmell Award is different from other genre awards because it is a popular vote using internet as medium instead of traditional ballots by a chosen few. What's more it is an international award because you can vote from any country. Just the book must be published in English that year. So I think it is even more valuable because almost 11 000 people from 74 countries voted and Sapek won. Despite people complaining it was Poles' attack, I think the turnout and the number of countries means that it just reflects his international popularity (I blame the Russians personally :P. BTW Thanks).
