I'm spend most of my time in lab learning new techniques or finding the articles to read on my new research field but sometimes I also look at some more popular science and those I share with you.

Yeast infection of sex organs  can be a positive thing if you are a plant. It rises the flower temperature which makes the bad smell stronger and attracts more pollinators to the stinking hellebore.

Your brain on humour. How brain responds to jokes and what things people find funny was checked by MRI which allows to see the brain activity. It turns out to be a comlex process that involves the language processing sites, reward system and some brain regions present only in humans. The reward system getting activated explains why we like humour so much and why funny people are so popular and connection with evolutionary new regions means it's one of those things that makes us human. This research also showed that the sense of humour is very dependent of the type of character one has and it showed that sometimes when you think someone doesn't have sense of humour it just means they find other things funny. Like people with autism and Asperger's syndrome.

Getting frozen may not be a way to let one be resurected but may be a way to get cloned or at least allows for sequencing even very old samples. After mammoths and neanderthals it's time for ancient homo sapiens.

New discoveries allowed for colouring dinosaurs in their true colours for the first time. It also gave them pretty feathers. Some people however don't think it's pretty and are on campaign against feathered dinosaurs. Ah the power of plastic toys - it will take ages for them to go away. I don't thing the animal coating can be decided by internet campaigns. But I also thing that not all dinosaurs had feathers.

And at the end the sad news.
Neil Clarke of Clarkesworld Magazine was exterminated by Dalek in his own lawn as seen in this awesome photoevidence.
