Yesterday was good, today is Syfy

I was so happy with Syfy last night I was almost willing to call it Sci-Fi. First on Eureka we had an all female episode and then Warehouse 13 previewed the rumored steampunk W12 adventures. And both were so much fun.

Eureka had women both as heroes and as  villain in this episode as Jo and Zoe teamed up to take out Beverly/Allison while everyone else was unconscious. I felt both Jo was criminally underused this season and I missed Zoe. It was also good to see the Allison plot line won't be stretched forever and the whole switching between Allison/Beverly was well done. I think Salli Richardson-Whitfield did a very good job at directing this episode.

I loved that Eurekans were smart and discovered Beverly pretty fast - the connection between prediction, acting off and recent memory problems were not ignored. I loved it even more that Beverly had contingency plan for that. I felt she did something to those inoculations. It was such a good plan - she got rid of Andy, she incapacitated everyone - too bad those left were team smart and badass.

I liked all those small callbacks. The little robot showing again and reminder Henry suddenly became married. And that the last time we saw Zoe she and Zane were getting together and breaking Jo's heart. Now that Jo and Zane are reconnecting it's time for Zoe to feel hurt. But they don't have time to quarrel because they had to save Eureka.

Zoe showed her smarts and was the scientist saving the day and also reminded us she used to be criminal mistake and is a Carter and solved the mystery. Jo was as kick-ass as always and she showed how smart she is too. She can deserves to go to Titan. The moment I liked most was when Zoe opens the door to the cell Jo is in. I was afraid she would keep forcing Jo to apologise for Zane. I'm glad she was shown to be more mature then that and consider saving Eureka a priority.

I'm also glad Carter told Zoe. She deserved to understand.

On Warehouse 13 we had three timelines and return of both H.G. Wells and the 60s W13 agents Jack and Rebecca as they encounter the same artifact. It was good to see all of them but the best part was of course the Helena back in her time being W12 agent.

It was awesome from the way she dealt with her brother living off her adventures - she agreed to this but him hogging all the fame while she's unnoticed calls for a little squirming - to the way she dealt with the episode's threat - even the fact that she was too cocky and it backfired. She had that headlong into adventure attitude associated with the adventure novels of that time only they always starred men. She was like combination of Haggard's hero and Sherlock Holmes and she had awesome clothes.

I loved, loved the fact that she had sex with the bad guy but was not heartbroken or even hurt by his betrayal and that she knew. She was all 'it was nice but you are mad and I came here prepared to kick your ass'.

I so wish they will go for making this into a series because I need more Helena being all genius and promiscuous and kick-ass in my life. And Gareth David-Lloyd as her young partner doesn't hurt either.

And then they went and wasted all that happiness by cancelling Eureka and taking back the six episodes that were to have to finish the story. I knew it had to end someday and it's been on pretty long already but it just got a second breath and I hoped it could stay for a while. It was my go to for fun sf and frankly one of the very few sf shows on TV worth watching. It is also my favourite Syfy show. There is still one year before it ends but I hope Blood and Chrome is awesome or they greenlight the H. G. Wells series as I don't really care about the rest of current Syfy offer much. It's not as if there's a lot to watch there as it seemed to be taken over by wrestling, asinine reality shows and even stupider movies. I watch Syfy mostly on Mondays and I watch it then mostly because of Eureka. I hope it won't be replaced by more Ghosthunters.

I just wish the writers of Eureka would do this sort of thing every episode. But I have the feeling it was their answer to the constant "Jo should do more things" stuff I'm sure they've seen from the fans.

And they had to put everyone in the entire town in a coma before Jo actually got to do something that wasn't, y'know, related to who she was dating.

I wish that the solving all the problems wasn't reserved for Jack. There is a place for multiple scientist to explain the problem there should be place for more then Carter to take part in action. However, 4.5 is better then 4.0 already (the prediction machine, horse rescue). And she also became involved with the space mission storyline. Right now, last episode made me I wish she interacted more with other women on the show.
