Geeking out
The new Doctor Who companion rummors have been flying around widely lately. There is no need anymore as today the Ponds replacement has been announced.Jenna-Louise Coleman is too be next companion and Moffat says she has great chemistry with Matt and that her character will be able to outtalk the Doctor. There are also some hints about how Amy and Rory will depart the show so read at your own risk.
Syfy released a Blood and Chrome trailer and it looks kind of awesome (space battles! It's been so long since I've seen space battles). I was starting to think they gave up on this show (with all the rumors about turning it into web series or cancelling it outright) so I'm glad it's still going to happen. So, in conclusion, do we start to whine about eyecolour now or wait for the show to actually start?
And io9 is on second tier of second round of io9’s March Movie Madness: Choose even more of the worst sci-fi movies ever!
And Suvudu's Cage Match is at 16 stage. Granny is winning by a large margin now even though it looked like a tie yesterday (she would crush Napoleon without a sweat - just go and see what she did to other megalomaniacs). It's exactly opposite with Rake - he's just barely winning now (I blame the unfair bribing the audience with Rothfuss written Bast vs. Zaphod). However, I still believe that my final will come true. It did last year even though chances looked much more slim.

and hee, I'm loving the io9 game. I hate Last Stand like some people hate TPM -- I don't even care that it's probably a "better" film than the Dr Moreau (which I also dislike strongly), but not nearly to the levels of loathing.

The only one I loathe is Battlefield Earth. I do it out of a principle as I've never seen it whole but I hated the book (piece of complete drivel) and the film, from the fragments I was able to stomach and descriptions, is even worse. (And I hate scientology).
I also get letting personal feelings get in a way in a poll like that as I would vote for all Emmerich movies (Ok, except Stargate) in that game. Just because I think they are a set of random effects bound together just because they look cool without making any sense. I feel cheated by their absence.
I don't feel that strongly about movies that just have out of character behaviour and contradict their own cannon (TPM, X3 or even Transformers) as they at least have some kind of internal coherence and something plot-like. I've seen Pluto Nash and it was so bad I don't even remember it. I blanked it out. That's bad. The others should really compete in the Most Disappointing Film ever.
