I think what I'm feeling now is an approximation of what people around felt when JP2 died.

I've been teary-eyed all afternoon and barely made it through my tutoring (I found out 15 minutes before the beginning of a lesson...)

I know. I didn't expect it to hit me this hard. I only met Pratchett for a moment at book signing long time ago and never knew him personally so why I did just sit there with tear welling in my eyes when I read he was dead? I was so glad my cubicle is in a corner away from everyone and I had webinar to watch so I asked them to not bother me so I had an hour to get my emotions under control. Still, I was a little dazed the rest of the day.

I think part of it is that even though I knew he was worse (after he cancelled his con appearance) his last book just came out so I convinced myself he must still be good enough that we have more time. So this came as a shock.
