David Eddings died on Tuesday at the age of 77. He was fantasy author best known for his Belgeriad/Malloreon and Ellenium/Tamuli cycles. I’ve read them both as a kid and still have the books somewhere. I grew out of that kind of books long time ago but I remember reading them fondly. Mostly because thanks to Ellenium trilogy (first of his books published in Poland) my brother became a reader.

He didn't like to read at all until that summer month in Russia when there was nothing better to do then reading and I had Ellenium with me. He was 14 then. The books are pretty standard stories but they have likable heroes, humour and adventure. He liked them. He didn't look back since. Now I have to fight with him who reads what first.

So thank you, David Eddings (and Leigh too) for all the fun I had as kid reading your books and for making my brother literate person. Too bad you didn’t manage to end your last book.

Also actor David Carradine was found hanged in his hotel room in Bangkok on Thursday. Most of what he did was very bad movies but he will be remembered for Kung Fu series and Kill Bill. He was making a movie in Thailand.
