One of the traditional TV events in Poland is showing Home Alone movies (at least the first two). My brother said they tried to stop last year but there was big outcry. Way to profit from some kid traumatic experience. Ever wondered what living with this kind of PTSD do to a person? You no longer need to - just take a look at the man Kevin became:

Webseries

If you are in US you can watch the pilot of Powers for free.

It's kind of cute and has some interesting ideas and I liked the two main characters and both villains but is also repetitive and a little disjointed.I loved the use of teleportation, Wolfe containment, the way Walker uses his former status to get what he wants while missing it, the wannabe culture and everything about Deena. I hated the constant repeating of the whole "did we mention he was Diamond, do you know he lost his power, I hope you haven't forgotten he used to have powers - we only said it 20 times already" but they didn't even get to being sure there was a murder (Olympia - might've died from old age). Still I think I liked it more than Gotham pilot so probably the biggest problem is that most people won't even know where to find it. Playstation. Really? Is anyone rally going to pay for that?

I've never heard about the original show but the reboot of Electra Woman and Dyna Girl as a webseries with Grace Helbig and Hanna Hart looks awesome. At least the costumes do.

And Alan Tudyk and Nathan Fillon are trying make a webseries called Conman. Alan Tudyk's description:
It's about the convention world. My character, Wray Nerely, was on a science fiction show called Spectrum, that was canceled too soon, and now he goes to conventions, to sign head shots, and meet fans, and do panels. Nathan’s character, Jack Moore, who was the captain of the spaceship on Spectrum, has gone on to incredible action-hero stardom, like Matt Damon. My character is frustrated with his situation and frustrated by Jack’s stardom. We follow Wray’s story as he goes to the conventions and does video game voiceovers and we are going to populate it with sci-fi actors and people that you will find at conventions. Zany hi-jinks ensue!

It's already has more then double of what they asked for on indiegogo but you can still help fund it - it has 30 more days to go.

After all the teasers for the Sarah (not your property), Alison (not your toy), Helena (not your weapon) and Cosima (not your experiment) here is an actual scene from the next season. Two months left.

Here are some deleted scenes from The Hunger Games: Mockingjay with Peeta and president Snow and Katniss and make-up. Leslie Jones tweeted a photo of new Ghostbusters cast backstage during SNL 40. There is a webseries about adventures of Adult Wednesday Addams and she does what we all wish we could do.
ellestra: (slingers)
You may know about my obsession with Slingers the best sf series that never was. It has spaceships, robots and heists and all that just in the sizzle reel. I have the icon, the song and now I have the comics. The all new Slingers comic is being made by people behind the idea for the series and you can download Issue One from Doghouse (along with issue 1 and 2 of Doghouse).

I also learned that Mike Sizmore - the writer behind the Slingers - is, along with Amy Berg, responsible for the one true superhero series we need (with Nordic warrior from another world, Amazon assassin, half-alien and the woman behind The Machine).

A new webseries coming form Felicia Day and Brian Singer to Hulu and Youtube.

Ahe half-hour comedy, which will post four episodes in its freshman run, follows a group of five wanna-be ghost hunters, spoofing paranormal “reality” shows in a live-action, modern-day Scooby-Doo. The Paranormal Investigation Team (or P.I.T. for short) tackles a new case each week, and through bumbling luck and raw talent, they manage to touch the other side of reality.

It has a lot of familiar faces (casting your series with your friends works pretty well sometimes).

The first episode is already available

They say the worst but of course there are worse. This is just most (in)famous of the very bad fanfics. It went viral and leaked to popular culture and then became Plan 9 from Outer Space of fanfics - so bad you love it. And now it crossed another line and gets its own adaptation - in webseries format. So here it is - first episode of My Immortal (at least the music is good):

BTW Plan 9 is getting a remake and after previous clip this sneak peak almost didn't seem half bad:

Jeff Victor has a gallery full of n the evolution of our favourite artists and heroes through their film career. Go see how Sigourney Weaver changed form lady with a cat to a cat lady.

Troy & Abed = Geordi & Data. How long before this will become a meme? I see it spreading with the new season (whenever that might be).

The web version of BSG: Blood and Chrome has just reached finale so you can see the whole thing now. It has space battles and loads of cameos.

I ate (too much). I played with cats (not mine, unfortunately) and kids (not mine, fortunately). I even talked to my family (because I was at home during late afternoon and they got my package). I even bought something today. So I think this qualifies as celebrating Thanksgiving. I'm starting to feel like I'm getting good at it.

Now I'm tired so I'm just sharing my latest webseries obsessions. Between this and the H+ I'm starting to feel like all the good SF in on the web.

ARG/viral campaign for something from Google that has a really cool concepts (reminds me a little of Charlie Stross Laundry series). This is the start. Tracking the whole thing can become an obsession.

And of course the first 4 webisodes of BSG:B&C are out.

Neil deGrasse Tyson is going to meet Superman this week. He was the one to pick a star for Krypton and he is staring in this story. And thanks to him we will get scientifically accurate red star which system could house an ancient civilisation. Too bad nothing else makes sense (biology never gets the love).

Battlestar Galactica: Blood and Chrome starts this Friday. As a web show on Machinima youtube channel. It will run as a series of 7-12 minute episodes and after it's done Syfy will show it as a TV movie. Doesn't makes sense to me either but I'm planning to watch.

Here's the new The Hobbit TV spot. It made me realise the first film is coming out next month

Star Trek: Renegades is a new webseries directed by Tim Russ and produced by Walter Koenig (both of them also star in the series along with a lot of other Star Trek actors. The series is a sequel to followup project to Star Trek: Of Gods and Men, the unofficial, independent fan film released in 2008. Here's the trailer:

First episode of Untitled Web Series About a Space Traveller Who Can Also Travel Through Time is out and it's more fun than I expected (after all its troubles) and takes a lot from the Inspector Spacetime cannon (but no constable Reggie).

And those in US can watch the first episode of Last Resort (that nuclear submarine show) on Yahoo 2 weeks before the premiere (Sorry LJ keeps screwing up the/deleting the embed so here's the link)

The Pond Life is available on BBC youtube channel and the first two episodes are up. Here's the first one:

Despite there being very little of the Ponds in it even after two episodes you kind of get wy they would want to stop being companions. It's like growing out of Narnia and finding your whole new life out here.

The SF webseries H+ started posting episodes. It's like a real TV series - with actors you recognise from something else and it's produced by Bryan Singer. It also has more science-fictiony premise (as in what is currently popular in SF) than most SF shows on actual TV (and more interesting too). They have DNIs and AR and then it all, of course, goes wrong so they also have the post-apocalypse. Two first episodes are up (more every Wednesday) and here's a first one:

Leverage was cute tonight. The best part for me was the vacation snapshots – especially Parker/Hardison trip around the world. Unfortunately, it lacked suspense for me but that's because I have problem with taking Cary Elves being evil seriously (he's both Wesley and Robin Hood). But that's my problem. And Antonov An-225 is the largest plane in the world and it actually flies (Spruce Goose has however bigger wingspan - because of outdated, straight wings) I'm sad about the move but I like that there are consequences from last season ending. I also dislike keeping secrets from the rest of team (and us viewers) but it looks like it's this season arc so let's see were it leads.

Falling Skies reminded me tonight why stick with it. It tends to have boring first half of the season but then the stakes go up. I've been waiting for return of Karen as the harnessed kids and their reactions to how their life changed are my favourite part. They didn't keep us guessing for too long. Karen is still doing the aliens bidding. she was the mouth of the main alien species for so long - directly connected to them - and it seems she doesn't need harness to love them and do their bidding any more. Rick wanted to go back too. She does what they wanted her to and she is there to lead the aliens but not to the Second Mass. They don't care about humans that much. They want the Skitter rebellion. The best part was watching her manipulate Ben and play on his alienation (:P) from the rest of humans. He is so taken with finding someone like him (especially after just loosing Rick) that he goes against what he knows and decides to believe her. I admit I'm exited for next episode.

Political Animals was fun. The guys were mostly jerks (especially the ex) but the conversations between the two main women were awesome. So were having women with ambitions that have nothing to do with families and are all about power. And, LOL at Adrian Pasdar as president.

But the best thing I've seen today is Farscape recut into minisodes for nedist channel and Ben Bowder does commentary (in his Doctor Who mustache :)

There is a 10 anniversary reunion panel for Firefly happening on Comic-Con this weekend and it will become a TV special to be aired on November 11th.

A new webseries H+ from Brian Singer is coming in August to youtube. It's about a future with people who got a DNI chip called H+ implanted die when a virus strikes reducing world population by a third and creating total chaos. It's also telling the story of before and after. Is it weird that it seems to be more appealing then most of what is (and what's to be) on TV? It also has a better cast.

Falling Skies have been renewed for the 3 season. It's not perfect but that all the aliens I get on TV so I cannot be picky. And some of the storylines I do care about.

I saw the PHD Movie today and it truly is funny. One can tell it's not a professional production and sometime it feels like the people are just reciting the lines and it's feels like bunch of gags not one story but it just flew by before I realised. And everyone in a full, large auditorium was laughing and cheering so loudly I sometimes couldn't hear the dialogue. It was OK. I remembered most of it from the comic. And it was so true in so many ways. Especially about the fact that no matter how we complain it's what we want.

I came back home and noticed that the first episode of The Dragon Age webseries is online. It's nice. Felicia Day, swords, fights, butchery. Here's embed but it's better to watch it in HD
